I’ve been putting off writing this post because I get so emotional thinking about how fast the past year has gone by! And putting it into perspective like that, I only have 17 more years with him with me at home… and that sounds really soon…. I know, I’m crazy. This past year has been a whirlwind and completely turned our lives upside down. I always wondered what it would be like to be a mother, to love a child of your own, to be completely responsible for another life! It is something I Never could have imagined or put into words. And something that no one can REALLY prepare you for no matter how hard they try. I look at him some days and just think, Wow… he’s MINE. He’s my SON! ……I have a SON… whoa, I’m a MOM. And then it spirals around again haha. I don’t have the time I used to have, or get to do the things I used to do, but I wouldn’t trade any of it, not for a second. Cooper is a ball of energy, never stops, always going, wants to run everywhere, gets into everything! It is exhausting just keeping up with him for 5 minutes. Once he realized he could walk, that was it, he was going. And he’s been non-stop ever since. He babbles constantly, trying so hard to talk. He thinks he is! And he points at everything and says what sounds like “that”! He knows exactly what you’re saying to him, although he doesn’t always listen (ha). He remembers things after telling him just once or twice days after. He amazes me! He loves putting things in and out of stuff, he loves “reading” through books, banging on stuff, absolutely loves being outside. We ride around in his remote control car almost every day, he loves it and thinks he’s actually driving. He loves his new red wagon and trike too! He has started whining a lot, maybe because he gets a reaction, or it’s just a new thing to him, I don’t know. He whines, and cries a lot whenever you tell him no or he is ready to go, or done eating. Hoping it’s just a phase! haha! He does seem to get his feelings hurt a lot, especially when you tell him no, or it startles him. That cute little bottom lip pokes out and he just comes and hugs you, it’s adorable, haha, takes your mind off telling him no a million times. He’s completely on whole milk now, as of last Thursday and hasn’t even noticed. I stopped pumping last Tuesday. It was a bittersweet transition, but I’m so happy to be done with that! He’s been eating so well lately, has 1 egg, sometimes 2 in the morning, along with a banana! Still loves fruit, especially mandarin oranges. He has a problem with eating too much at one time though. He doesn’t quite understand that yet. He also had his first haircut! I broke down and let him get one before his birthday, but his sides needed to be trimmed! He didn’t do too well, he cried, but she tried to do it really fast and we finally got it.

His first birthday party went so well! He slept extra long that morning and woke up after everyone got there, but it was fine because we all ate and he was awake much longer the rest of the day. We had a Little Blue Truck themed party for his favorite book. I made a big cutout of the little blue truck with animal balloons and Cooper loved it. They are still floating and he loves to go and point at them. We had all farm themed foods, and blue gingham decorations. I also had a time capsule for everyone to write messages to Cooper for when he turns 18. I’m sure he will enjoy reading them all one day! He loved the smash cake, although it wasn’t his first time having one because I took his photos a week before. But he still loved it just as much! He had so much fun playing with all of his cousins. He absolutely loves being around other kids and has no fear playing with the big kids. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us on his special day, we appreciated it so much!
